Camila Acosta
About Camila
My name is Camila Acosta, originally from Brazil. At the age of 19, I immigrated to Santa Barbara, where I began my educational journey at SBCC in the ESL department. With the invaluable support and guidance from SBCC mentors, professors and counselors, I successfully transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Later, I pursued my passion for guiding and empowering students by obtaining a master’s degree in guidance counseling from Cal Lutheran University.
I am deeply committed to helping students achieve their career and educational goals while fostering a sense of belonging in the college environment. Having navigated through imposter syndrome myself, I understand the challenges students face and strive to empower them to recognize their potential and pursue their dreams. At SBCC, I work as an Academic Counselor and I also teach Personal Development - College Success class and Work Experience class. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, practicing yoga, spending time at the beach, and indulging in a good book. I love traveling and encouraging students to consider studying abroad.
